Handwoven with sustainably sourced natural raffia and banana bark fibers by groups of women in intimate communities across Uganda in an ethical, fair trade environment. Raffia is harvested by extracting liquid from the raffia palm tree and is naturally green, but after being stripped and dried by the brilliant rays of Uganda sunshine, it turns into a neutral beige. Once fully dried, the strands are dyed with organic dye, then the artisans hand-weave these beautiful baskets in their homes.
