Midnight Iringa Basket
HANDWOVEN IN TANZANIA
✓ Social Impact
These simple yet durable baskets are hand woven by women in rural Tanzania from milulu grass dyed to a dark hue ranging from deep purple to black. Milulu grass reeds can be harvested carefully from the marsh without removing the entire plant, dried in the sun, dyed with natural dyes, and split for weaving. The closeness to the earth of both maker and product gives these beautifully crafted baskets widespread appeal.
Responsibly sourced and thoughtfully crafted with local milulu by Fair Trade artisans in Tanzania. The milulu makes durable baskets, which can be rinsed with cool water and reshaped as needed.
"The closeness to the earth of both maker and product gives these beautifully crafted baskets widespread appeal."
