Handwoven African baskets from Senegal blend functional storage, traditional craft, and modern style for a truly unique storage solution. Wolof women in rural Senegal utilize salvaged plastic strips and abundant dried cattail stalks to create these incredibly handy oval storage baskets. Each basket is crafted in a neutral pattern of black, gray and white stripes, a perfect way to blend storage and art in any room of the home.
Responsibly sourced and thoughtfully crafted with cattail stalks and recycled salvage plastic by Fair Trade artisans in Senegal. Wolof women in the West African nation of Senegal hand-weave these baskets in the traditional coil weaving method using natural grass. Interweaving colorful strips of plastic, salvaged from a mat factory in Dakar, the weavers create beautiful designs that are truly a work of art.
