Handcrafted by Batonga women in rural Zambia, this basket represents generations of artistic heritage passed from mother to daughter. Across Southern Africa, the Batonga women of Zambia are well know for their basketry skills and unique designs. Each piece takes days to make and is meticulously woven from abundant natural fibers like palm leaves, wild twigs and creeping vines to craft functional pieces of woven art. Rich, earthy pigments are added with natural plant dyes made from bark and leaves.
